Last week we suggested that Unilever’s pop-up Magnum stores might be, amongst other things, a vehicle for the company to crowd fund research into new ice-cream flavours.

This week we profile an out-and-proud seeker of crowd funding, the UpperCup.

Melbourne coffee lover and hospitality veteran James McKay has just launched a Pozible crowd funding campaign to get the cash for the final stage of producing what we think is the world’s best take-away coffee cup. It may well be, as it’s been shortlisted for a 2013 Melbourne Design Award.

Designed and manufactured in Melbourne, the cup is available in white and black and comes in two sizes: 8oz and 12oz. Unique features include the cup’s double wall – which means your fingers don’t get burnt while your coffee stays hot – and the BPA-free plastic it’s made from . The plastic insulates the cup and doesn’t absorb odours or flavours, so you can enjoy uncontaminated peppermint teas and lattes on alternating days; now that’s unique!

The cup is completely recyclable should you ever tire of using it for consuming your favourite pick-me-ups when out and about.

For more inspiration about all this, check out the UpperCup and its Pozible campaign

The ‘Trending now’ section of Pozible’s website always makes for fascinating reading. Makes us wish we were uber-rich so we could fund lots of good design ideas.
